Welcome Joe Bevington to Sweet Water!
Please welcome Joe Bevington to the Sweet Water! Joe is joining the Sweet Water team as Program Development Coordinator. Let’s learn a little bit more about Joe!
Are you originally from Wisconsin?
You betcha! Born and raised in Milwaukee, did my undergrad at UW-Madison and just recently finished graduate school here at UW-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences.
How did you learn about Sweet Water?
I became familiar with Sweet Water through the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences. The water sector here in Milwaukee is a close network, and Sweet Water’s reputation of being a leader in watershed improvement precedes it!
Can you describe your professional background?
I am a water resources and policy professional focused on leveraging strategic partnerships and stakeholder engagement to enhance Milwaukee’s freshwater resources.
Where did your interest in water come from?
I’ve always had an affinity for being near the water- swimming, boating, fishing or even just building forts by the creek with friends. So even at a young age, I’ve had a deep appreciation for how valuable water resources are. As I grew and learned, I also became more aware of the many threats facing water resources. So, I decided to pursue a career dedicated to the preservation of this most vital natural resource. Working here at Sweet Water provides me the perfect opportunity to do so!
What do you do when you aren’t at work?
When I’m not at work I love spending time with my family, cooking, and trying to keep up with my garden. When time allows, I enjoy golfing and fishing!
