Kinnickinnic River Watershed
Updated Implementation Plan
The Kinnickinnic River Watershed Updated Implementation Plan focuses on strategic implementation, consolidation and accountability in order to localize and strengthen watershed improvement projects. It takes a watershed-wide collaborative, adaptive, and cost-effective approach by combining water quality, water quantity, habitat and recreational improvements to restore the KK River Watershed.
This plan also aims to:
make the watershed eligible to receive Section 319 funding by gaining US EPA approval for the Nine (Minimum) Key Elements of a watershed plan
provide recommendations for implementing Total Maximum Daily Loads for Total Suspended Solids, Phosphorus, and Fecal Coliform in the KK River watershed
provide recommended actions for addressing certain emerging pollutants
pave the way to delist of Kinnickinnic waterways from section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act impaired waters list through restoration and protection efforts
integrate restoration projects and opportunities with planned flood management investments
improve quality of life for communities in the KK watershed by improving habitat and increasing the quantity of recreational opportunities and amount of green space
coordinate and expand efforts to implement watershed plans and projects
